ANDOVER Rotary Club raised more than £4,000 at a special motor cycle enthusiasts event in Andover and Imber on the Salisbury Plain.
More than 100 people were fed bacon rolls and coffee by local baker and biker Steve Burbage, who organised the event.
They arrived on Weyhill Road at Steve’s bakery before heading on to Imber. The road is closed most of the year due to MoD exercises in and around the village but special permission was given for this visit.
The Andover Rotary Club supplied road marshals for the event and as a thank you gesture Steve and biker friends donated £590 which purchased another Shelterbox for the disaster area in the Philippines.
This brought the total raised locally in the past few weeks to £4,130 and a total of £75,000 in the past ten years via Andover Rotary Club to supply shelter warmth and dignity to nearly 2000 needy people worldwide.
