AN ELECTRICAL explosion is said to have caused major delays on a busy Andover roundabout.
Police have confirmed that an electrical pole fire broke out just after 4pm this afternoon between the King Arthur's Way junction and Enham Arch roundabout.
Social media reports have suggested that an explosion occurred prior to the fire.
Roads between Enham Arch roundabout and Smannell roundabout were closed for 15 minutes while police redirected traffic.
Fire services from Basingstoke attended the scene but the fire was self extinguished.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire & Rescue confirmed they handed over responsibility to the electricity board who were on hand at the scene.
SSE have said that they were called by Hampshire Police after reports of some sparking on a link box and an engineer is on site investigating the problem.
It is understood that 28 properties are currently without power but they were unable to comment on whether an explosion occured.
A spokesperson for SSE said: "At the moment we expect to have the power back on by 9.45pm and we apologise for any inconvenience caused."
