A LEGENDARY music icon from Andover was honoured with a blue heritage plaque placed in the town centre.
Reg Presley, who died in 2013, had a Heritage Foundation Blue Plaque unveiled in his honour on Sunday.
The plaque was organised and paid for by Andover Town Council.
Lead singer of the Troggs, the 60s rock star was born and bred in Andover, where he met his fellow band members.
The plaque will be placed outside of 12 the High Street, the original location of the Copper Kettle, where The Troggs used to play in the 1960s.
It was unveiled by the singer’s widow - exactly 50 years after the Troggs’ hit ‘Wild Thing’ broke into the top 10 in the UK and reached No.1 in the US.
Len Gates, vice-chairman of Andover Town Council, said: “This was Andover’s first blue plaque and no-one is more deserving of the honour than Reg Presley.”
