High Street in Fordingbridge set for five weeks of closures

According to Hampshire County Council, carriageway resurfacing will begin mid-June, with High Street expected to be closed for 24 hours for two weeks and further overnight closures planned for an additional three weeks.

A draft of the project plans released by the council said the works will include “carriageway resurfacing on Salisbury Street, High Street, Shaftesbury Street and Station Road to Normandy Way in Fordingbridge. Works to include laying into junction of Provost Street, Bartons Road, West Street and Mill Court”.

Fordingbridge Town Council released via a Facebook post that the works would also include the removal of the block paving on High Street between Bridge Street and Normandy Way.

During the two week, 24-hour road closure, works are expected to take place between 7.30am to 6pm. During the further three weeks of overnight closures, works will be carried out between 8pm and 6am.

Fordingbridge Town Council added that residents and businesses in the area would receive a letter about the works and that precise start dates and working hours are yet to be confirmed.

The town council said pedestrian access would remain available at all times throughout the closure.
