YOUNG photographers in Andover have won places in a national competition.
Theo Youds, a pupil at Rookwood School, entered the Andover round of the Rotary Young Photographer contest in March this year in the intermediate category for those aged up to 14 years old, while Rebecca Machin, also a Rookwood pupil, entered the senior category for pupils between 14 and 18.
They both won the Andover round and their photographs were forwarded to the Rotary District competition, which is for contestants from schools in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Channel Islands, south Wiltshire and part of Dorset.
They both won the district titles and Theo scooped National Rotary Intermediate Photographer winner for 2014, beating young contestants from all over the UK and Ireland.
At a school assembly on 10 July, Theo was presented with a trophy and framed certificate by Rotarian Igor Obrastsoff–Rutinsky, the president of the Andover Rotary Club.
The president congratulated both Theo and Rebecca on their achievements and also thanked Rookwood School for continuing to encourage pupils to enter the competition.
