AN Andover school has made a heartfelt attempt to ensure impoverished children around the world don’t miss out on Christmas Day.
Pupils from Rookwood School have been spreading a little festive cheer this month by getting involved in the 2014 Rotary Shoebox Appeal.
From toys to toiletries, the youngsters have been furiously filling their official Rotary shoeboxes with little gifts and everyday necessities to send to disadvantaged children as far away as Moldova and the Philippines this Christmas.
The appeal, which has been coordinated at Rookwood by geography teacher Hannah Willcox, saw a total of 138 shoeboxes filled this year.
Head teacher, Louise Whetstone, said she was “incredibly proud” of the team effort, which involved pupils from the nursery all the way Rookwood School pupils with some of their gifts for the Rotary Shoebox Appeal up to the senior school.
