A man suffered facial injuries after being attacked in a busy shopping precinct in broad daylight.
The 21-year-old was treated for a suspected broken nose after he was assaulted on Andover High Street.
His attacker attempted to head butt the man and then punched him in the face.
A woman attempted to break up the scrap before those involved in the incident dispersed from the scene, just outside the Marks and Spencer store.
A 17-year-old from Andover was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has been released on bail until January 16.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault, which took place just before 4pm on Tuesday December 16. Detectives are particularly interested to hear from the woman who tried to intervene in the incident.
