The Winter League concluded last week with its presentation evening at the Borough Arms.

A successful and competitive season was rewarded with more than £1,300 being paid throughout the league. In the league, no team remained unbeaten and with Wolversdene taking the title by just a point the competitiveness and standard continues to improve year on year. Champions: Wolversdene £200, runners-up Boro Porkys £150, 3rd Unicorn Academy £130, 4th Wyke Down £110, 5th Entertainer £90, 6th Boro Frogs £80, 7th Chestnut Tree £70, 8th Boro Adams £60.

Individual league performances recorded over 4,100 ton plus scores with the consistent Kev Martin (Porkys £30), heading the charts with 199 from 110 games. Jeff White (Wolves £20), 189 from 105 games was a close second and Jamie Kelling (Academy £10) a good third in his first year with 164 from 95. In the 180 charts 157 maximums were hit by 36 players. Mark Thorne (Wolves £30) topping the list with 14 from Paul Reidy (Frogs £20) on 12 and Jeff White (£10) with ten.

There were 18 finishes of 130 or more and for the second year running the highest check out went to Gary Brant (Chestnut) with another brilliant 170 - Old Stone Face' collecting £30 for his efforts.

Kev Martin (£30) collected his second award by winning 93 games but the fastest leg was shared by Arron Monk (Academy) and Mark Thorne who both recorded 12-dart legs and shared £30. For the record there were six, 13-dart legs.

In the knock outs, The Entertainer (£50) rescued a disappointing second half to the season by winning the Team Knock Out final against the Wolversdene (£25). The Plate winners Chestnut Tree boosted their winnings by £20.

The Singles title was won by Paul Reidy (£30) against the rising talents of the Academy's Sean White (£15), the losing semi- finalists were Porky's Eddie Edmondson and Kevin Martin who collected £5 each. The Blind Pairs were won by John Gaffney (Entertainer) and Jeff White who earned £20 each, defeating Kev Martin and Paul Britten (£20) with Peter Lisle and Paul Reidy both Frogs and Martin Hitchins and Arron Monk £5 each losing semi-finalists.

The Keith Goacher All Andover Singles takes place at the Entertainer tomorrow with just a few places remaining. One of only two Classic Ranking Singles open to only Andover players with an entry fee of £5 per person, players must register by 11.30 am.

Last year's event was won by Glen Dawkins who defeated Kevin Martin in the final and the competition is in recognition of Keith Goacher.s unequalled achievements for Andover darts.

Following on from Colin Lloyd's exhibition at the Entertainer on Thursday June 14, the ladies' world champion Trina Gulliver has been confirmed for August 7, more details next week.

Top performers at last week's Academy session witnessed Arron Monk average 25+ for the second week running and Jack Andrews who continues to make good progress. Other good work came from Liam Hanson, Sam Pike and Charlotte Burgess.

The juniors in particular are making excellent strides with special mentions for Ray Lockington, Billy Dunn Michaela Tobin and Danielle Hopper whose application has been first class.
