AROUND 500 runners pounded the tarmac in Sunday’s Overton 5 Mile Road Race.
The event now in its 30th year was another hit, starting at Berrydown Sports Ground and finishing at Overton Recreation Centre.
Along with the adults, 50 children entered the earlier youth race, and all were awarded medals for taking part.
Race secretary Steve Edwards said: “It is nice to have run it for 30 years and it’s still very popular and it still fills out.
“It’s very popular around the village, we’ll look forward to next year.”
Richard Waldron from Southampton Athletic Club topped the table in 25 minutes and 58 seconds, followed 15 seconds later by Benjamin Douglas from Isle of Wight RR AC.
Third place went to Toby Lambert at 26 minutes and 31 seconds, and Kathy Bailey finished first among females at 29 minutes and 57 seconds.
