PUPILS spent a day learning about house building when a developer visited a primary school.
Children in Year 3 and Year 4 at Ludgershall Castle Primary School spent the day with Lovell, the developer building new homes in Bulford, Larkhill and Ludgershall to house soldiers and their families relocating from Germany, as part of the Army Basing Programme.
The developer hosted a day of activities, showcasing the skills needed to work in house building.
Nicola Schneider, community relations manager at Lovell, said: “We had a marvellous time with the children, building the Lovell House, measuring up house plans and designing their own dream homes. We were also very fortunate to have Wessex Archaeology join us for the activity day, allowing the children to investigate finds from the different sites Lovell are currently working on.”
Patricia Venman, humanities leader and global learning co-ordinator at Ludgershall Castle Primary School, said: “We had a brilliant day. The children loved it. It’s always good to have these links with the wider community, and as Lovell are building all the new houses in the area, it was beneficial.
“Lovell also bought in Wessex Archaeology, who had different artefacts that the children had to work out what they were, and where they were found.
“The most important message is that the children were putting their learning into practise, while also being involved in the wider community.”
