THERE was a real community effort to help a Weyhill care home spruce up its garden.
Rothsay Grange care home teamed up with the Co-op Community Project, Winton Community Academy and Wyevale Garden Centre to host a community gardening day.
Wyevale donated money for plants, and staff from Co-op Community Project volunteered their time and manpower, with four students from Winton also getting involved on May 17.
The team threw themselves into action by weeding and creating a sensory garden, which will provide a place for residents and carers to relax and stimulate the senses.
They also found time to paint old furniture, while the home’s hospitality team kept the workers’ energy levels up by serving a spread of teas, sandwiches and cakes for all to enjoy after their hard work.
General manager Jessica Salway said: “What a fabulous day we had, everyone got together and worked really hard to make this a real community event. We even had the mayor Ian Carr helping to fix our water feature.
“The sun shone for us on the day and our music therapist played the guitar, so everyone had a sing-song.”
