The Armed Forces have paid tribute to a soldier who died at his home in Andover.
Warrant Officer Class One John O’Connor died on the morning of Thursday September 3, and was a member of the Military Provost Guard Service (MPGS), which provides armed guards to military sites across the UK.
He served in the MPGS since it was formed in 1997, and was later appointed the Branch Sergeant-Major for the Provost Marshal (Army) headquarters in April 2015.
In a message posted on Twitter, the Adjutant General’s Corps said that O’Connor was “exceptionally proud of his cap badge and being its senior soldier. He will be sorely missed by us all.”
They added: “Funeral arrangements will be promulgated in due course.”
