Wiltshire Police have arrested a man in Tidworth for being almost four times over the drink drive limit.
Officers said that they saw a vehicle driving “erratically” in the town in the early hours of Saturday, November 28.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver asked to take a breath test, which was failed. The suspect gave a result of 127 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath, which is significantly above the limit of 35. As a result, he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
As a result, the man was taken to Melksham police station, where another breath test was performed two hours later. Here, the test result was 95, just under three times the limit.
Officers said that the driver will now be charged with drink driving and will be attending court at a later date.
Wiltshire Police said: “Not only did the driver put himself in danger but also other road users and officers could have been typing up a very different update had the vehicle crashed!
“This is a kind reminder to road users that Christmas will soon be upon us, this is not an excuse to drink drive, think before getting behind the wheel because the actions you take could have a major impact on someone else’s life.”
