A Nepalese restaurant in Tidworth has temporarily closed due to Covid-related restrictions and safety concerns.
Namaste Gurkha Restaurant has been a favourite eating place for many people in Tidworth.
The restaurant mostly has five-star reviews on Google from customers who have said its menu and service are fantastic.
However, the restaurant announced on its Facebook page on Monday (January 18) that it is closing down until further notice.
The Facebook post read: “To all our valued customers, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close Namaste Gurkha Restaurant Tidworth until further notice.
“The rapidly evolving situation with Covid-19, we feel it is best to minimise movement and contact to adhere to the health and safety of the community. We believe this decision is in the best interest of our staff, our guests, our suppliers and the public at large.
“We would like to thank everyone for your continued support by ordering from us even during this unprecedented times. We will keep in touch as things evolve. Please keep checking for Facebook page for updates. Feedbacks, comments are all welcome. Take care of one another and keep safe. Hope to serve you soon again.”
According to a recent report, more than 800 chain restaurants, bars and coffee shops, and many more independent and family-run sites have closed since the start of the Covid pandemic.
Covid has wrought havoc on cashflows of leisure sector operators as they have been repeatedly forced to close or only open under tough restrictions to ensure social distancing.
The government has offered grants to companies forced to shut down but they say this is inadequate.
