WITH all restaurants closed during the third national lockdown, foodies who want a night off cooking must order in their favourite cuisine.
There are many takeaways in the town and it can be hard to choose where to place an order.
We thought we would help you make your choice next time you’re deciding where to get a lockdown dinner by creating an interactive map showing each takeaway’s food hygiene rating.
The Food Standards Agency carries out inspections and rates the observed hygiene standards on a scale from zero to five.
Five is the best rating, meaning standards are very good and fully comply with the law.
Zero is the worst, meaning urgent improvement is necessary.
Inspectors check the following three elements:
- How hygienically the food is handled – how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored
- The condition of the structure of the buildings – the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation, and other facilities
- How the business manages what it does to make sure food is safe and so that the officer can be confident standards will be maintained in the future.
Use the interactive map below to find out the hygiene scores of each takeaway.
