THE leader of Test Valley Borough Council has hit out after ‘abhorrent’ fly-tippers dump waste in Andover.
This morning cllr North took to social media to express his disgust after broken up beds, TVs and mattresses were dumped at Anton Lakes Nature Reserve.
Councillor Phil North called the perpetrator a ‘moron’ that he would love to ‘name and shame’ in court.
He wrote on his Facebook page this morning: “Whilst we were all battening down the hatches last night, protecting ourselves from storm Christoph, some moron decided to take the opportunity to dump a load of broken up beds, TVs and mattresses at Anton Lakes Nature Reserve.
“I’ve already reported this to my Environmental Services team, who will go out and clear it up. We will also carefully examine the fly-tip to see if we can find any evidence of who was responsible for this abhorrent act. “
He added: “Test Valley Borough Council has a good record of prosecuting those who commit environmental crimes. So if you recognise this rubbish please do let me know or contact the council on 01264 368000. In a few months time, I’d love to name and shame the perpetrator, after a day in court.”
Cllr North said last month the council has a ‘zero-tolerance policy when it comes to fly-tipping in our beautiful borough’ after a teenager was fined £2,294 for fly-tipping.
