A Weyhill garden centre has been shortlisted for a national award for the quality of its food offering.
Rosebourne Garden Centre, on Amesbury Road, has been shortlisted for the Farm Shop and Deli Awards for 2021.
These national awards celebrate specialist retailers from across the UK in recognition of the commitment they have shown to their customers, community, staff, and suppliers over the past year.
Rosebourne Garden Centre has been shortlisted as being the best food hall in the 2021 Farm Shop and Deli Awards. It is up against Macknade Fool Hall in Faversham, Shrewsbury Market Hall, and The Crieff Food Company in Perth.
The food hall in Weyhill has been open throughout lockdown as an essential shop, providing ingredients and other produce to customers across the year. It has been adapted to follow all Covid restrictions, including widened aisles and a one way system, to ensure that the safety of staff and customers is maintained.
A click and collect service was set up for meat, vegetables, and other everyday groceries allowing customers to order and pay for essentials online and collect them from store. The initiative has been so popular that this will continue after lockdown has ended.
Rosebourne chief executive Carol Paris said: βIt has been a tough year for everyone and to receive the news that we have been shortlisted for the Farm Shop and Deli Awards 2021 is a great accolade to our team who have worked so hard throughout, and also to our network of suppliers who have helped us support communities through providing everyday essentials.β
The winner of the Farm Shop and Deli Awards will be announced at the Farm Food and Deli Show which is currently scheduled to take place on July 5 2021 at the NEC in Birmingham.
