Eagle-eyed Andover residents may have spotted strange lights at night on Sunday.
The lights hung over the ASDA supermarket on Anton Mill Road, with suggestions of UFOs and other supernatural phenomena from residents to the Advertiser.
But fear not, there were no aliens looking to get their groceries – but instead the world’s largest mobile crane.
The Spierings SK1265-AT6 crane was in place as part of work to change air handling units on the roof of the building. It can carry up to 10 tonnes in weight, and reach over 60m, allowing it to carry items effortlessly over one of the tallest buildings in Andover.
Just before the stroke of midnight, this temporary town landmark vanished into the night, with the crane able to be put up and folded away at the touch of a button.
If you missed it on January 31, don’t worry! The crane is said to be returning this Sunday, in daylight, to provide another chance to catch it hanging over Andover.
