An Andover Primary School was forced to close for a few hours this morning after a heating failure.
Andover C E Primary School, on East Street, was forced to close after there was no heating in the school.
The start of the school day was pushed back until 11am to give an engineer time to fix the heating.
While there is no specified minimum temperature under Health and Safety regulations, “reasonable working temperatures” have to be maintained throughout the day. The teachers union NASWUT suggests a minimum temperature of 16˚C must be maintained in schools, with a 13˚C temperature in areas involving rigorous physical effort.
Staff at the school told the Advertiser that the issue had now been repaired, and the school has reopened.
