The latest Covid-19 test results show that there has been a dramatic fall in cases across Andover and the wider Test Valley, with only one area seeing an increase.
Many areas have seen dramatic falls, with Andover South seeing the largest fall of some 32 cases – an almost 60 per cent decline
In the week leading up to February 5, Test Valley recorded 242 cases, a decrease of 159 from the week before, with a rolling rate of 191.8 cases per 100,000 people.
Test Valley is also broken into smaller geographic areas, known as MSOAs, or Middle Layer Super Output Areas, which are smaller, postcode-linked areas that are used for a range of government statistics.
Breaking down the cases over the week up to February 5 by area, many of the MSOAs recorded slight rises and falls in the number of cases in their area, though overall numbers remained high in some areas.
Andover London Road & East Anton continues to have the highest number of cases, but has continued its week-on-week decline. It had 64 cases, a fall of 15, and a rolling rate of 377.2 per 100,000. This rate is, however, significantly higher than the English average of 202.5.
Tidworth & Ludgershall also had high case numbers, at 53. All other areas are below the 50 case mark, with Andover West having 29 cases, a fall of eight on the previous week. Other areas of town also had cases around the 20 mark, with Andover South recording 23, a decline of 32; Andover Central having 22, a decline of five and Andover Newbury Road having 19 cases, a decline of 24.
South Wonston, Sutton Scotney and Micheldever had the lowest number of cases, with rates recorded as suppressed. When cases are less than three, the exact number is not recorded to protect those with the virus.
Of areas with cases, Nether Wallop, Kings Somborne & Dunbridge had the lowest number, with four. This is a decrease of 34 from the previous reporting period, and a rate of 51.5 per 100,000.
Only Overton & North Waltham saw an increase in cases this week, but only by one. This took it to six cases, and a rolling rate of 87.9.
As of Wednesday, February 10, Test Valley had reported 4,822 positive cases of Covid-19. There have so far been 187 deaths with Covid-19 recorded as the cause of death.
