Police are to step up patrols in Andover following an incident in which a man tried to get two teenage girls to get in his car.
Officers said that a man asked the girls if they wanted to get into his car on Tuesday, February 9 on Floral Way. The girls ran away from the man and called the police.
Hampshire Constabulary said they will patrol the area following the incident, and be speaking to schools.
The incident occurred at around 6pm on February 9, when two teenage girls were walking along Floral Way. They were approached by a man in a white Volkswagen Polo, and asked if they wanted to get in.
The girls ran away from the car, and police were called. Officers said that the driver of the car is described as a man in his twenties of mixed race.
In response to the incident, police will be patrolling in and around Floral Way, as well as speaking to local schools “to make them aware of these sorts of incidents.”
They also appealed for members of the public to report suspicious incidents to them.
They said: “We want more people to report suspicious incidents in their local area to us so we can build a picture of what’s happening in our community.
“Please be reassured that we will be patrolling in this area, and speaking to local schools to make them aware of these sorts of incidents.
