FIREFIGHTERS from multiple stations were called upon to tackle a fire at a school in Andover yesterday evening (Thursday, February 25).
Crews from Andover, Overton, Sutton Scotney, Salisbury and Eastleigh were called to the scene at Balksbury schools on Floral Way.
It is currently unclear which of the two schools was affected - with Balksbury Junior School and Balksbury Infant School both situated on the residential street.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted that it was a "small fire" incident, "involving a dishwasher".
Speaking to the Advertiser, a spokesperson for the service added: "Firefighters from Andover, Sutton Scotney, Eastleigh and Salisbury were mobilised at 18:13 last night to a school on Floral Way, Andover.
"There was a fire in a dishwasher in a ground-floor staff room.
"The fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus, two jets and a ventilation fan, and the stop message came in at 19:15."
