A RECOVERY crew was called out on Tuesday after a motorbike was dumped in a nature reserve.
A 125cc motorbike was fished out of Anton Lakes on what was the hottest day of the year so far.
But concerns were raised by residents of the impact that the petrol engine leaking into the lake could have on its eco-system.
Anton Lakes is a popular walking destination among residents and also is home to plenty of wildlife.
Camera Club photographer Chaz Clark captured the moment, and said that he hopes the lake hasn’t “been too polluted by their stupid act”.
He said: “They had fun lifting it up onto the jetty. Hopefully the lake’s eco-system hasn’t been too polluted by their stupid act.”
It has been claimed on social media that the bike was stolen, although Hampshire Constabulary said they were not aware of any incidents.
Other social media users shared concerns that it could impact on the lake’s wildlife, whilst several kind-hearted community members offered to remove the bike from the lake.
Meanwhile, Chris Etherington cited the lake’s resilience, saying: “30 years ago cars dumped in the lake weekly, sure a little motorbike won’t pollute it too much.”
