A LORRY driver has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving on a road near Andover.

Dean John Moffatt, 48, drove a MAN lorry into a parked Toyota Corolla car by the side of the southbound A34 at Bullington Cross, east of Andover at around 8.10pm on November 11, 2019.

Ric Mboma, 60, was killed in the crash and two teenage children, Witley and Heaven Mboma, were seriously injured. Mr Mboma died at the scene.

Moffatt appeared at Winchester Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday) and pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice by deleting a SkyBet and Bet365 apps from his mobile phone.

He was not arraigned on two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Moffatt, of Robson Avenue, Peterlee, County Durham, was released on bail with a condition that he must reside at his home address. He was also given an interim driving ban.

He will be sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on May 7.

After the crash in 2019 the Mboma family, from Feltham, west London, issued a statement: "Ric Mboma was a loving and caring husband, and wherever a beautiful soul has been there is a trail of beautiful memories."
