Northern Test Valley is in the clear in the latest Covid-19 test results after Andover and the surrounding areas were all recorded as having suppressed rates.
Whether it’s Shipton Bellinger or Barton Stacey, Faccombe or Nether Wallop, all rates in the area have been suppressed in national figures. When cases are less than three, the exact number is not published to protect the identities of those with the virus.
Just over the border into Wiltshire, and Tidworth & Ludgershall does have a recorded number of cases – three – but is on the cusp of becoming suppressed as well, with cases declining by over half in the week up to May 13.
However, these figures were taken before the latest relaxation of lockdown rules, with it yet to be seen if the easing will cause any spike in cases.
In the week leading up to May 13, Test Valley recorded just nine cases, a decrease of three from the week before, with a rolling rate of 7.1 cases per 100,000 people – much lower than the English average of 22.
Test Valley is also broken into smaller geographic areas, known as MSOAs, or Middle Layer Super Output Areas, which are smaller, postcode-linked areas that are used for a range of government statistics.
Breaking down the cases over the week up to May 13 by area, only Tidworth & Ludgershall has a recorded number of cases. This suppressed data includes areas such Andover London Road & East Anton, which previously has the highest rates in the area, now having no cases identified to the public.
The closest areas with an identifiable number of cases, apart from Tidworth & Ludgershall, include Oliver's Battery and Hursley near Winchester, Popley in Basingstoke, and Newbury Wash Common, though these all have minimal numbers of cases.
As of Tuesday, May 18, Test Valley had reported 5,427 positive cases of Covid-19. There have so far been 248 deaths with Covid-19 recorded as the cause of death.
As of the same day, 117,034 doses of a Covid-19 vaccine had been given, including 76,326 first doses and 40,708 second doses.
