AS THE summer weather shows signs of improvement, a trat that helps you cool off is high on the priorities list.
This Gazette scoop looks at six places to find delicious ice-cream after a weekend stroll.
Waffles & Cream, Chandler’s Ford
This gelato house in Chandler’s Ford is great for kids and adults with a sweet tooth. Serving waffles, crepes, Ice Cream and Milkshakes with vegan options also available. It is also just a five-minute walk from the scenic Hiltingbury Lakes public garden.

Hatcher Pond, New Forest
For Dog walkers looking to get out, Hatchet Pond in the New Forest offers a beautiful walk with on of the most diverse wildlife spots in the New Forest. The Pond is the largest areas of fresh water I the whole of the New Forest just outside the small village of Beaulieu There is a mobile ice cream van making frequent patrols ensuring a well-earned treat at the end.
The Ottoman Restaurant, Basingstoke
The Ottoman Restaurant on Winchester Street in Basingstoke offers a wide array of Dondurma – Turkish battered Ice Cream, for those looking to for something a bit more experimental than a traditional 99, and is open all day Saturday and Sunday.
Canal Café, Farnborough
There are also plenty of ice cream spots along the Basingstoke canal if you’re prepared to head further east towards Surrey. Canal Café sits overlooking the canal in Farnborough, offering refreshments to walkers in this walkers’ paradise.
Canto Gelato, Andover
This gelato place is for the authentic gelato lovers. Serving Pure Sicilian pistachio ice cream and gelato infused with Italian Lavazza coffee, it is a must try for a taste of Italy. Conveniently, it is also a stones throw away from the Andover canal.

Eastrop Park, Basingstoke
The ice cream van has returned to Eastrop Park, Basingstoke. Located right in the centre of town and right by Festival Place, a walk and an ice cream here could be the perfect accompaniment to a day of shopping.
