Two men have been arrested after a man was hospitalised following an assault in town yesterday.
Andover Police were called just before 4.30pm yesterday (June 16) to reports of a group fighting on London Street.
On arrival, officers found a 54-year-old man with a head wound. He has been taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries, which police said was considered serious but not life-threatening at this time.
A 23-year-old man and a 48-year-old man, both from Andover, were then arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. The 48-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
They both remain in custody at this time.
Hampshire Constabulary have appealed for witnesses to come forward, saying: “We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident, or has any information that may assist on our investigation.
“Anyone with information is asked to phone 101 with reference 44210236684. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
The news follows a similar assault last week in Andover, where a teenager was also hospitalised with head wounds.
In that incident, police were called on June 9 at 8:36pm to an assault on King Arthurs Way, where an 18-year-old had been assaulted by two men in what was being treated as GBH.
