An Andover football team has been forced to call off a second match this week after members of its team were told to isolate.
Andover New Street said that it’s match against Moneyfields FC Reserves, due to be played today (July 17) at 3pm at Foxcotte Park, had been called off following Track and Trace self-isolation notifications.
Posting on Twitter, they said: “Just been informed that the game is now off! Our already depleted squad have had a number of players informed to self-isolate this morning. Apologies for the late cancellation and we send best wishes to Moneyfields FC Reserves for the 2021-22 season!”
The match was already looking a little different from the ordinary after a number of first team players were unavailable after a ‘Covid outbreak’ earlier this week, with a “select side of first team and swift players” assembled.
New Street had been due to play Salisbury on Tuesday, July 13, but this match was also called off, with Salisbury FC attributing the cancellation of the pre-season friendly to “a Covid outbreak across the Andover New Street team.”
The Street said the cancellation was due to "unforeseen circumstances" and apologised to Salisbury for the late cancellation.
