FIREFIGHTERS have been scrambled to the scene of an Andover home which was struck by lightning during the overnight storms.
Crews from Whitchurch, Amesbury, Ludgershall, Winchester, Overton, Rushmoor and Basingstoke, as well as the region's incident command unit, were called to the scene on Mercia Avenue, Charlton in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, July 24).
Six pumps were deployed to deal with the property's roof, with smoke and significant damage visible.

A road closure is in place on the residential street while crews work to make the area safe.
A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Two semi-detached houses were severely damaged in the incident. A 70-year-old female was assessed by ambulance crews on the scene but was not taken to hospital.
"One Aerial Ladder Platform and two 45mm jets were used at the incident."
