A TESCO employee is fighting for his life in hospital after he was attacked at work last week.
The 62-year-old was punched in the face in the car park outside the Tesco Extra store on River Way last Thursday evening.
He suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to University Hospital Southampton, where he remains.
Since then, an Andover man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
27-year-old Shane Richard Donovan, from York Court, has been remanded into custody.
Three others, an 18-year-old man, a 28-year-old man, and a 36-year-old woman, all from Andover, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
They have been released under investigation.
Reacting, Andover MP Kit Malthouse said: “This is a horrific incident which will have shocked many across Andover, not least those who sadly witnessed it.”
Councillor Iris Andersen added: “I was shocked, and my thoughts are with the poor family and what they must be going through.”
