A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital after getting trapped beneath a forklift at an Andover warehouse on Friday afternoon (August 13).
Fire crews from Andover and Basingstoke were mobilised to the scene on MacAdam Way, in West Portway Industrial Business Park, at 1.19pm.
They arrived to find a woman whose leg was trapped under forklift machinery.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two Basingstoke appliances have been mobilised, along with a crew from Andover, to a warehouse in MacAdam Way, Andover at 13:19 this afternoon.
"Crews are working alongside SCAS, HEMS and Police to extricate a female casualty whose leg is trapped beneath a forklift."
A South Central Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 13:10 to an incident in Andover. We sent to the scene an ambulance crew, a rapid response vehicle, critical care car from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air ambulance, our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and an ambulance officer.
"They were working in partnership with Hampshire Fire and Rescue to rescue the casualty and assess and treat the patient for serious leg injuries. Following treatment at the scene by all our crews the patient was taken to University Hospital Southampton by ambulance accompanied by the ambulance crew and the crew of the critical care car."
The Helicopter Emergency Medical Service confirmed to the Advertiser that they attended the incident, with a spokesperson adding: "A patient has been conveyed to hospital by ambulance accompanied by the critical care team.
"Our critical care team consists of a Doctor and HEMS Paramedic."
Firefighters left the scene when the stop message came in at 2.16pm.
The HIWFRS spokesperson added: "HIWFR used hydraulic tools and airbags to release the casualty from the vehicle and hand her over to the paramedics."
It is as yet unclear at which unit the incident occurred, with MacAdam Way being home to multiple industrial businesses.
Hampshire Constabulary has been contacted for comment.
