Police have appealed for witnesses after a cyclist was killed following a car crash in Barton Stacey.
The incident occurred on an unnamed road known locally as Newton Lane between Barton Stacey and Newton Stacey at around 3.30pm yesterday (August 15). A 45-year-old man, who was riding his bike, was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Astra.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, rushed to the scene, but unfortunately the 45-year-old man died at the roadside.
A 21-year-old Hampshire woman has been arrested in connection with the crash, and police are appealing for witnesses over the incident.
A spokesperson said: “We'd like to hear from anyone who saw the incident or may have dash-cam footage of it. They are asked to call 101 and quote 44210325082.”
The death follows another collision within the past month, which saw another cyclist lose their life.
70-year-old James Tassell from Barlows Lane, Andover, was taken to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance after a crash involving a Vauxhall Vectra and his bike on July 23. Sadly, he passed away from his injuries on July 28.
The car driver, an 81-year-old man from Whitchurch, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been released under police investigation.
