CHERYL Rickman, a Sunday Times best selling author from Stockbridge, is releasing her 12th book next month.
To mark the event, she will be introducing her book `You Are Enough: Embrace your flaws and be happy being you` exclusively at the P&G book shop in Winchester on Wednesday Sept 8 at 7pm ahead of the publication date.
The book aims to help readers cultivate an attitude of “enoughness”, by providing practical advice to turn self-criticism into self-compassion and find a balance between self-improvement and self-acceptance.
Cheryl’s previous book, `Navigating Loneliness`, was published during lockdown so the launch took place over Zoom.
Cheryl said: "It's great to be able to have an in-person book launch and there'll be tea and biscuits."
At the launch, Cheryl who is a qualified positive psychology practitioner will read from the book and share some thought-provoking advice about how to challenge the inner critic and explain why people tend to compare and judge themselves and what they can do about it.
The event is free of charge with copies of the book for sale and signing opportunities.
Cheryl continues: “There is so much unnecessary pressure on people of all ages today including our children which can be detrimental to mental health.
“I wanted to write a book that helps free us from the shackles of should which come from multiple sources in our society.
“I hope it also helps people to let go of the myth of perfection, compare and critique themselves less and become more accepting and compassionate towards themselves, as life can be tough enough without us giving ourselves such a hard time."
