The bank holiday weekend at the end of last month saw the second Great Whitchurch Scarecrow Trail take over Andover.

Families and businesses all over town created some amazing scarecrows and trail maps were supplied so they could all be found and admired.

The event was raising money for charity Furlock Holmes, an animal rescue centre based in Whitchurch which provides a rehabilitation and rehoming service to animals in need and also takes therapy animals into various organisations including care homes and special needs schools.

With over 50 to choose from, organisers said choosing a winner was definitely a close run thing, but in the end number 18 at Lynch Hill Park took the crown, with number 33 on Micheldever Road scooping second place .

The event was originally set up last year by Marcus Winch, Amanda Winch and Mark Bishop, who were looking for a family friendly, socially distanced event which would allow the community to come together despite the pandemic.

It was even more popular than expected, and so the team decided to bring it back for 2021.

Posting on Facebook, Amanda Winch wrote: “A massive thank you to all the families and businesses which took the time and effort to build some amazing scarecrows - as always making Whitchurch a better place and making some amazing money for a great cause“
