A former Labour council candidate will stand trial this week after denying a number of child abuse allegations.
Adam Buckenham has been charged with 21 offences, including rape and sexual activity with a child.
Buckenham, of York Road, Ventnor, appeared before Winchester Crown Court on Monday where the 12-person jury, made up of five women and seven men, was sworn in.
However, the trial was not started and the case will resume on Tuesday morning.
Buckenham denies all the charges.
The 46-year-old, who now lives on the Isle of Wight, stood in the Andover Downlands ward for Labour in the 2019 Test Valley Borough Council elections.
He is also the former chairman of the Picket Twenty Neighbourhood Watch.
