THREE people killed in a lorry crash on the A303 were a mother whose car had broken down and two Good Samaritans who stopped to help her.

Mum-of-two Alex Britton, 28, Tina Ince, 58, and Tom Watson, 30, died in collision on the dual carriageway near Andover on Wednesday, August 25.

It is understood that Alex, who was due to get married next year, had been left stranded after her Vauxhall had broken down without anywhere to pull in.

Recovery driver Tom, who was on his way to another job, noticed she was in need and stopped to help. Tina also pulled over to come to Alex’s aid. 

As they were moving the car to safety, there was a collision with a HGV lorry. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

Paying tribute to Tina, her family said she died as she lived - helping others while Tom’s colleagues said he “loved his job and helping people”.

Following their deaths, calls have been made to improve safety on stretches of road where there is no hard shoulder. 

Staff at Avery Recovery, where Tom worked, are supporting a campaign called Move Over, Slow Down, designed to protect roadside workers.
