A SALON owner has been celebrating a triple award win at the Hair and Beauty Awards after being in business for four years.
Carla Corte, a mum from Andover, who runs Hair by Carla in Winterbourne Dauntsey, has been in business for four years, after opening her salon in September 2017.
The salon won three awards, including Gold for Best New Business, Silver for Best Salon of the year and Silver for Best stylist of the year.
She said winning made her day, especially after all the months of endless closure and heartache she and other businesses faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Carla said it’s important that local business get recognised because they play an important part in local communities.
She said: “It is really important to support local and small independent business, as they put their love and heart into their business.
“They generate local economy, offer local people job opportunities, promote the area but most of all they offer a service experience to the local community.”
She has also been extremely grateful to all her loyal customers that have since entered the salon for a Salisbury Journal nomination for the Best Hairdresser Salon in 2021.
Carla added: “We were so surprised by the lovely announcement and letter sent to us. We look forward to the future and to be the best at what we do but most of all to make people feel and look fabulous.
“Cheers to Hair by Carla and to all of you that make the salon a success.”
In June last year Carla was praised for being one of the few salons to be certified vegan and hoped that this would encourage others to follow her footsteps.
She received a certification that all her practices and products were aligned with a vegan message.
She commented: “I would like to inspire others on how easy it is to be eco-conscious.
“It involves a little bit of everything, but anyone can do it, it just involves being a little bit more resourceful. I want to help others to be more eco-friendly, advise them and inspire a new generation.”
Carla, who wants everyone to live in harmony with nature, has been extremely proud of how far she has come since opening the salon four years ago.
She added: I’m overwhelmed to have been there as a sole trader, and very happy as I have been recognised nationally.”
