FIREFIGHTERS have scrambled to the scene of a nightclub in Andover this lunch time (Wednesday, September 22), following reports of smoke.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service told the Advertiser that firefighters from Andover, Sutton Scotney, Whitchurch and Basingstoke are currently on scene in London Street, Andover, after reports of smoke coming from a side entrance of Cameo & Vinyl nightclub.
All persons are accounted for and two hose reels, one jet and an aerial platform ladder are currently in use.
Jess Harvey, general manager of Cameo & Vinyl, told the Advertiser that the flames were a result of external cladding, and were under control.
She stressed that the business would be closed as usual today, and appealed to the public not to speculate online.
A spokesperson from Cameo Andover said: “Thankfully no one has been hurt and we are working with the fire brigade to understand the origins of the fire and whether or not we can open for trading.
"We will post the latest updates on our social media channels as and when we have more information. We’d like to thank the emergency services for their swift response.”
