Residents of King Arthur’s Way and Roman Way in Andover were treated to a free fajita and smoothies as part of a community health fair held at King Arthur’s Hall last month.
Attended by Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Mark Cooper, the Healthy Communities event was organised by the NHS Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and partner organisations including councillors to find out how local people would like to improve their health and wellbeing. Residents were asked what was important to them and to suggest how they would like to improve their health and wellbeing. There were free children’s activities including a fun fitness class. The Mayor even joined in by having a go on the smoothie bike, where peddling turns fresh fruit into delicious smoothies.
Dr Katie Warburton, GP at Shepherd’s Spring Medical Centre was pleased by the popularity of the day.
She said: “It was great to hear how successful the day was. We will be looking at the ideas and suggestion from the community and so we can help to support people improve their health and wellbeing.”
As a result of conversations during the event the CCG and partners will look at how they can put the ideas into practice to help create a healthier, happier community.
