AN ANDOVER post office and a convenience shop have temporarily closed this week, it has been confirmed.
Weyhill Road Post Office and McColls supermarket, which used to operate in the same premises at 155c Weyhill Road, Andover SP10 3BH, have been closed from Monday, November 8.
The alternate post offices available for Andover residents are on Salisbury Road and Charlton.
A spokesperson for Post Office has confirmed that their services from Weyhill Road have been temporarily closed after the postmaster resigned from the role.
The spokesperson said: “Weyhill Road Post Office, Andover, closed on 8 November due to the resignation of the postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises. The store, where the branch was based, has closed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
“We know how important a Post Office is to a community and we are looking to restore service as soon as possible. The vacancy is advertised on www.runapostoffice.co.uk. In the interim, alternative branches include Salisbury Road and Charlton.”
A spokesperson for McColls said: "Unfortunately, this store [Weyhill Road] will close permanently on November 26, 2021.
"We will be saddened to no longer be operating the store and our priority is to support all affected colleagues."
