Health and safety breach

AN ANDOVER company is accused of breaching health and safety regulations by failing to ensure a dumper truck was in working order.

Nelson Plant Hire Limited appeared before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last month accused of a breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. It is alleged that the company, based on Weyhill Road in Penton Corner, failed to ensure that a dumper truck had been maintained in an efficient state, working order and good repair.

The charge states the offence allegedly happened on or before May 11, 2018 at White House Field, Goodworth Clatford.

No plea has been entered in the case brought by the Health and Safety Executive, and it was adjourned to January 18 at the request of the defence.

Speeding case

A VILLAGER who admitted speeding in London will appear before court in the New Year.

Lucinda MacNamara, of Haven Hill near St Mary Bourne, is charged with speeding on the A316 Great Chertsey Road in Twickenham on June 14. She pleaded guilty via the single justice procedure at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on December 15.

The charge states that she travelled in a Volkswagen at 54 miles per hour between the junctions with Saxon Avenue and Crane Park Road, when the speed limit was 40mph. The case will be heard at a full court hearing following a request from the defence. The 53-year-old is due to appear at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on February 11.

Dangerous driving trial

A MAN is due to face a trial after denying a charge of driving without due care and attention. Christopher Michael Soper, of Middle Conholt near Vernham Dean, is charged with driving a Citroen Berlingo on Conholt Park and Conholt Lane without due care and attention on June 24, 2020.

The 54-year-old denied the charge at an earlier hearing.

He is due to stand trial at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on February 3.

Jailed

AN ANDOVER man has been jailed for breaching a restraining order.

Ross Steven Hanlon, of Ward Close, was sent to prison for five months on December 15 after he admitted breaching his restraining order by sending messages. The court heard it was a “deliberate and persistent breach and is the last in a series of offences against the victim”, documents reveal.

It took place between November 1 and December 4, 2020.
