High pressure will build over France and Spain during the coming days. And this is good news for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight during the week ahead because it signals a relatively mild spell of weather for both counties.

Putting more detail on what we can look forward to in our neck of the woods, I expect a fair amount of dry weather with a mixture of bright spells and cloudier periods.

On the warmest days next week maximum temperatures could even hit the 15Celsius mark - especially on cloud-free ones.

However, before this unseasonal warm spell arrives, there is a chance our region could experience a short-lived unsettled period during the next day or so with the threat of some showery rain breaking out as a cold front linked to low pressure near the Norwegian Sea tracks slowly south across the British Isles.

Towards the tail end of next week, it may turn colder and showery but this is not set in stone.

Little if any frost is expected during the outlook period as overnight temperatures are likely to be above average for early-February.
