Alleged arsonist
AN ALLEGED arsonist who is accused of setting fire to a home in Andover and beating a woman will go before a judge.
Mwamba Munkonge, of Alder Road, is alleged to have set from to the contents and the home committing damage to an unknown amount on January 29, this year.
The 30-year-old is also accused of assault by beating. He is said to have attacked the woman whose house he allegedly set fire to.
Munkonge case was sent to Winchester Crown Court on March 2.
He was remanded in custody.
Harassment
AN ANDOVER man has denied harassing a woman.
Paul Smith, of Heather Drive, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded not guilty to harassment without violence.
It is alleged that between March 8, 2020, and June 25, 2021, the 47-year-old left the woman over 200 voicemails which he knew or ought to have known amounted to harassment.
The case was adjourned and the next hearing will be held on July 18, this year, when Smith will stand trial.
Tracked victim
A MAN has admitted placing a tracking device and a spy camera in a woman’s car without her knowledge.
Ben Buckle, 37 and of Great Missindon, Buckinghamshire, pleaded guilty to stalking without fear/alarm/distress between July 16 and 22, last year, of a woman in Andover.
Magistrates adjourned the hearing for sentencing on March 7, this year.
Drink driver
AN ANDOVER man alleged to have been caught drink driving will go on trial later this year.
Tomass Petrovs, of May Tree Road, is accused of driving a Mercedes VRM in King George Road on January 1 when he was over the alcohol limit.
It is alleged that he had 53 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.
During a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court the 22-year-old pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Magistrates set a trial date for July 18 at the same court.
Unpaid work
MAGISTRATES have banned an Andover man from driving after he was caught behind the wheel over the alcohol limit.
Mieczyslaw Idzikowski, of Eastfield Road, admitted to driving without insurance and while over the drink drive limit on Adelaide Road on January 13. He had 102 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.
The 47-year-old was disqualified for 24 months and must do 80 hours unpaid work.
He has to pay £85 court costs and £95 victim surcharge.
Drug driver
A MAN from Over Wallop has been banned from driving for four years after he was caught over the drug drive limit.
Matthew Reed, of Fine Acres Rise, was stopped on the M3 on September 13, last year, when he had cocaine and benzoylecgonine - the major metabolite of cocaine - in his system.
He appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to the two charges.
The court was told that he had not less than 32 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood - the legal limit is 10. He also had not less than 669 micrograms of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood - the legal limit is 50.
Magistrates also ordered him to undergo 20 rehabilitation days. He must also pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
Disqualified
MAGISTRATES have disqualified an Andover man from driving after he was found to be over drink drive limit.
Ramiro Correia Valiente, of Tintagel Close, had 58 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was stopped on Andover Road, at Red Post Bridge, on February 1. The legal limit is 35.
The 40-year-old was banned from driving for 26 months and fined £200. He must also pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
