A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl from Andover is planning to climb the highest mountain in Wales to raise fund for two charities close to the heart of her family.
Effy Burton-Hutchence will be climbing Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, on May 28 to raise fund for The Lacey Pearl Trust Fund and Hope Rescue.
The Lacey Pearl Fund provides support and equipment to help make home life comfortable as possible for children living in the UK with Mitochondrial disease. It was set up in memory of Lacey Pearl who died of Mitochondrial disease in 2013 at the age of two.

Lacey’s sister is studying with Effy at Clatford Church of England Primary School.
Hope Rescue is a dog rescue charity in Wales through which Effy’s family rescued their dog.
She has already raised £300 for each charity through her fundraising page, and is excited to climb the mountain and help the charities.
“Initially when we set up the fundraising pages and she saw the money coming in, Effy couldn’t believe how people were already donating even before she completing the task at hand,” said her mum Loren Burton-Hutchence.
“She is also excited because the mother of Lacey, whom she is fundraising for, is completely on board for this task.”
Loren and husband Arch Hutchence will also join Effy for the mountaineering mission in May. Family of one of Effy’s classmates is also planning to join the task.
Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales, at an elevation of 1,085 metres above sea level, and the highest point in the British Isles outside the Scottish Highlands. It is located in Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd.Effy has already been training hard for the big day.
“She climbed Pen y Fan peak in Brecon Beacons on New Year’s eve,” Loren said.
“We got to the summit and she said she wanted more. We have also been doing some hill training. She likes to do a little bit of hill running – going up and down a couple of times, so that she gets the grips with that.
“She does a weekly park run and a junior park run. She also trains for martial arts twice a week and practises swimming and gymnastics once a week.”
