MEMBERS of staff from an Andover supermarket took part in a litter pick around the town this week.
Staff at Tesco Extra River Way decided, in conjunction with Test Valley Council (TVBC), to allocate a couple of hours on Tuesday, February 22, between 10am and 12 noon to litter pick the area surrounding their store.
Speaking to the Advertiser, Nikky Herbert, Tesco community champion, said: “As a socially responsible company we feel it’s all business’s responsibility to help the local environment in our local community.
“The litter had built up over a period of time and after the three storms we’d had the previous week it was pretty messy to look at.”
Nikky continued: “We had a team of nine colleagues who volunteered to go out with pickers borrowed from TVBC and scoured the bushes and fences retrieving litter - and clothing!
“It was amazing how much we found!”
Nikky was joined by fellow Tesco employees Donna, Tom, Terri, Carolyn, Sarah, Louise, Ellen, and Andy on the litter pick.
The team is hoping to carry out another litter picking session in the near future, weather permitting, to help make the area a nicer place for residents.
