ANDOVER-BASED arts organisation, Chapel Arts Studios (CAS) is providing a creative lifeline to older local residents facing mental and physical health challenges.
The free, four-week art programme ‘Second Nature’ started earlier this month and has been made possible by generous funding from Simplyhealth.
CAS intends to deliver a programme of art workshops to local over 60s who have been impacted by Covid restrictions, isolation and ill health, to improve wellbeing through art practice centred around nature.
The project aims to open up a whole new world of creativity for participants, to rekindle skills in art that have been left aside, or just enjoy a new interest in a supportive group with like-minded people facing similar challenges.
Participants of all experience levels will be led by professional artist Steph Turner, who specialises in ceramic and textile art.

The course's second block of four weeks starts on the March 16 2022.
A trip to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens is included in the programme, to inspire participants to create nature themed artworks.
The courses also culminate in an exhibition of the art created at the end of the project, at Unity Art Studios from April 28.
