A fundraiser has been set up to raise money for emergency packages for the people of Ukraine.

Ukrainian national Olga Kott, who organised the peaceful demonstration in Salisbury city centre at the weekend, has launched a Go Fund Me page to raise funds for fellow Ukrainians caught up in the conflict.

The eastern European country has been at war with Russia for six days now, after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his Army to invade Ukraine.

Since the fighting began, millions of lives have been put in danger, including those of Olga's family and friends, who are unable to leave the country.

The 38-year-old business owner, who has lived in the UK with her husband and children for 15 years, is working with charity Hope and Homes for Children to get vital supplies over to Ukraine.

More than one third of her fundraising target, set at £3,000, has already been raised.

"It's not easy, but through volunteers we will send direct help to children and people in need," said Olga.

"Many people offered their help last Sunday and we have a great response already."

Businesses and charities in Salisbury have also come together to collect donations for Ukrainian refugees.

Salisbury Salvation Army, in Salt Lane, will be open from Thursday to Sunday to accept financial gifts for Ukraine.

Nail salon Head to Toe, in Winchester Street, is also organising donations which can be dropped off at the salon or at softplay business Solstice Play, in London Road, Amesbury.

Not for profit organisation Crafty Girls is selling crafted items, including knitted and crocheted toys, from Dauwalder's in Fisherton Street with all proceedings going to a charity supporting Ukraine.
