A FAMILY-RUN Andover fishmonger and produce wholesaler has been presented with an award by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne.
The directors of Cooper Foods, Mark and Will Cooper, and their butchery manager, Jai Coombes, were invited by the Institute of Meat and Worshipful Company of Butchers to attend the annual prize-giving recently.
The event took place at Butchers Hall in London where more than one hundred guests gathered in the Livery Hall for the awards ceremony.
Cooper Foods, based at Portway Business Park in Andover, received the award for Best Company Training Scheme from HRH Princess Anne for their Butchery Apprenticeship programme.
This has been a very successful programme for them. Two of their original apprentices are now in management positions within the company and in total, they have trained nine previously unskilled employees to become butchers.
