THE owner of a quilting and embroidery shop in Andover is running an Easter raffle to raise funds to thank the hospital staff who treated her husband following a stroke.
Ricky van Well, who runs Quilter’s Dream at the commercial centre in Picket Piece, wanted to give something back to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, and show appreciation for the NHS heroes who helped her family.
Her husband, Hans, suffered a stroke just over a year ago, and she says that everyone who responded, from the paramedics who answered the 999 call, to reception staff at the hospital, and those in Twyford Ward, offered “truly world class” care.

Ricky continued: “It did not stop after he got home. The physio, psycho and occupational therapists continued to support him for weeks afterwards.
“We have nothing but the highest praise for all of the people who have looked after him. Without them, he would not have recovered.”
Ricky and Hans have decided to auction off a seasons-based “luxury quilt” on Easter Saturday, with all proceeds going directly to the stroke unit at the hospital.
To support Ricky’s appeal, visit the store and purchase a raffle ticket. Tickets of just £2 and the draw is due to take place on April 16.
