ANDOVER town council has objected to a town centre shop’s makeover plans.
Clarks shoe shop on Andover High Street has submitted an application to Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC), for the existing site to be updated with the new branding colour and logo.
In addition, it is requesting permission to install one internally illuminated sign, and one non-illuminated projector sign. The shop front is also to be painted black and soffit to be painted white.
However, considering the application at a meeting on March 28, ATC lodged an objection to the plans on the grounds that it goes against the rules of the conservation area the shop lies within.

Cllr Barbara Long said: “I thought it was understood that in the conservation area there should not be internally illuminated signs, they should be external. If that has changed, then planning needs to tell us it has.”
The application will now be considered by TVBC. To view the application responses, visit: view-applications.testvalley.gov.uk and enter reference: 22/00749/ADVN.
